A DVD of the Red Rocks show would be mind blowing..... If they have "extras", maybe they filmed mrsweezer & daughter meeting Mike and Johnny backstage before the show..
Ok... I'd like all of your opinions
I think Social D should film a new DVD for the following reasons:
1.) The one they put out looks/sounds like shit. Whoever filmed it and mixed/recorded were fucking morons.
2.) Brent Harding
3.) See #1
Social D's shows this year have become much more theatrical. Their lighting is absolutely amazing now, and with Brent Harding added and Dan McGough's settling into the group... they sound much tighter and more powerful than they ever have (in my eyes). Their setlists are cooler now, too.
I would rather watch many of the bootleg videos that were just recorded on handheld video cameras compared to the DVD many times (especially the red rocks/street scene shows) because I think even THOSE sound/look better than the "Live in Orange County". You have more of an audience sound. The DVD is very muffled and sounds like a very weak recording.
If they were to record a new DVD where they mixed in much more audience/room mics I think they would have much more of a successful DVD. Picking up the sound from the audience's vantage point instead of 95% stage mics would be much better, I believe, because you can pick up more of the best thing about a live show: the lock between the kick drum & bass. That's where all the balls comes from. I think the original DVD lacks the balls and power of a Social D show. I've seen many more live DVDs that sound wayyy better than SD's.
I can't put enough emphasis on how much better I think the band has sounded this year. How about them backing vox (thanks, Brent). And I really like the new dynamics and theatrics of the light show.
Does anyone out there agree and hope for the same thing?

I'd like to see a new dvd as well, but the old dvd rocks in my opinion, and is superbly finished. I also dont think Brent brings anything special or different to the group.
They should have a DVD featuring their music videos like "Ball and Chain" or "I Was Wrong".

yea, they should do another one with better vid quality, the LIOC is Ok, but not perfect. The lights are boring, there is a lack of drive.
It would also be nice to see a complete different setlist. I think a 2xDVD filled with the complete MLM album, alot of WLWHWT songs and also nearly complete SLARNR, and the "not often played songs" from SBHAH, Selftitled and PB would be perfect. With 3 bonus songs: Mainliner, Private Hell and I can't run no more.
Or the easiest way. I would buy such a DVD : 'Social D. live from the Casbah studio', (filmed with 2-3 static cams) performing: I can't run no more, Private Hell + all songs which they usually don't play on the stage..
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">I agree but it seems like Sony would own the rights to those. Why Sony hasn't already tried to cash in on this I'm not sure; maybe there was some sort of clause about post-contract distribution of intellectual properties or something- or maybe they've got more profitable things to worry about... like whiny teenage boys with lipstick and women's pants.Originally posted by Alex the Punk Rocker:

While we're engaging in wishful thinking, I'd like to see a documentary made about the band's career. I doubt it'll happen since probably hardly enough pre-1990 video footage exists of the band besides ASoM. It could work, though.

yeah, I agree... The band has even improved with Harding since he joined the band. Danny M. is so awesome as well as the lights too.
I've thought about this too. while the Live in OC dvd was cool (and fun for me and my friend b/c we know and recognize a lot of people in the show) it never really got me amped like some of the ablums do.
since this is basically a wishful thinking thread, i'd like to see a 3 night show in a venue where the tickets that are sold are good for all 3 nights, but you can't buy just one night. the first night is a traditional/ basic show, 2nd night is all acoustic/ solo stuff, and 3rd night is new material and solo stuff gone rock-n-roll (like the song "Six More Miles" done in a punk format when he did that at HoB in March). if any of the music changes, i'd like to have more blues songs played, like the Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell album, b/c that's my favorite. and they can add "Southern California Blues" to it also. the next step is that it's a 6 disc set: 1 dvd and cd for each night.
well, that'd be my ultimate SxDx dream, and i think it'd be a good idea. i realize that the 6 disc set would probably cost a small fortune, but it'd still be pretty sweet. and to put the icing on the cake, they can film it in Orange County because thats where i live.
